Stillpont DRIVES YOU FREAKING CRAZY?

Stillpoint

Drive you freaking crazy?
Keepers of the vine

LIVING WITH THE PERSON YOU love is not always peachy. And it’s not always what everyone thinks it is. It’s not waking up early every morning for breakfast together in bed. It’s not snuggling together every night until you fall sound asleep. It’s not always having the house clean … and fresh food in the oven … and clothes washed and ironed and put away.

Living with the person you love is sometimes arguing over silly things, like who forgot to take out the rubbish. It’s drifting off in the middle of a conversation because the day’s been hard and you’re exhausted. It’s someone who pulls the duvet away in the night and you wake up cold.

But despite all this, you look forward to seeing that same person every day – or you can’t wait to get home every day to that same person who loves you and cares about you. It’s talking together while you cook dinner. It’s going easy on each other because you both had a complicated day. It’s laughing together when someone says or does something funny. It’s sharing special moments of closeness and intimacy …

It’s living through an emotional crisis and having someone who sits next to you, hugs you, and tells you that everything will be fine. And you believe it.

It’s loving that same person even when it drives you freaking crazy.

Living with the person you love is not always easy. And it’s never perfect. But it’s still wonderful. And it’s still worth it. And it’s the kind of love that many people spend their lives looking for.

That’s why every day you think … “No matter what happens, see you at home!”

UNPLUG

Almost

  everything

    will

      work

        again

          if

            you

              unplug

            it

          for

        a

      few

    minutes …

  including

you.

ANNE LAMOTT – ‘KINDNESS.BLOG’

A GRAND THING

I like living.

I have sometimes been wildly,

despairingly, acutely miserable,

racked with sorrow; but

through it all I still know quite

certainly that just to be alive is

a grand thing.

AGATHA CHRISTIE

FAMILY

Like branches on a tree

          we

          all

          grow

          in

          different

          directions …

but our roots keep us

together.

ONE MORE DAY

Just for this morning, I’m going to ignore the mess and take you to the park to play.

Just for this morning, I’ll leave the dishes in the sink and let you teach me how to do that puzzle of yours.

Just for this afternoon, I’ll turn off the phone and the computer, and sit with you in the backyard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I won’t yell, not even grumble, when you beg for an ice cream – and I’ll buy you one if Mr Whippy comes along.

Just for this afternoon, I won’t worry about what you’re going to be when you grow up, or second-guess every decision I’ve made where you’re concerned.

Just for this evening, I’ll let you stay up late while we sit on the deck and count stars. And I’ll hold you in my arms and tell you a story about how you were born and how much I love you.

Just for this evening, I’ll think about the mothers and fathers who are in hospital rooms watching their children suffer, the mothers and fathers who are visiting their children’s graves instead of their bedrooms.

And when I kiss you goodnight I’ll hold you a little tighter, and ask God for nothing, except one more day …

FROM THE PARENT OF A CHILD WITH CANCER

COMING HOME

Sometimes there is no map for the road we find ourselves upon. It lies ahead, uncharted, unfurling into mist. We are all travelling through one another’s countries. But it is no matter if we meet as strangers, for we can join forces and learn to love. And where there is friendship and affection, there is the place we can all call home.

MATURE JENNY – ‘CALL THE MIDWIFE’

EARTH’S GORGEOUSNESS

Why do we marry? Why take friends and lovers? Why give ourselves to music, painting, chemistry, or cooking? Out of simple delight in the resident goodness of creation, of course. But out of more than that, too. Half earth’s gorgeousness lies hidden in the glimpsed city it longs to become.

ROBERT CAPON – ‘A CULINARY REFLECTION’

NEVER TOO LATE

It is never too late to reinvent yourself.

Start a new career at 40.

Fall in love at 50.

Learn to dance at 60.

Start a whole new life at 70.

Stop saying you can’t.

You can and you should.

Dreams don’t have an expiration date.

RAVENWOLF – ‘BE A VOICE, NOT AN ECHO’

TAKING SIDES

Today I am taking sides.

I am taking the side of Peace.

Peace, which I will not abandon

even when its voice is drowned out

by hurt and hatred,

bitterness of loss,

cries of right and wrong.

I am taking the side of Peace

whose name has barely been spoken

in this winnerless war.

I will hold Peace in my arms,

and share my body’s breath,

lest Peace be added

to the body count.

I will call for de-escalation

even when I want nothing more

than to get even.

I will do it

in the service of Peace.

I will make a clearing

in the overgrown

thicket of cause and effect

so Peace can breathe

for a minute

and reach for the sky.

I will do what I must

to save the life of Peace.

I will breathe through tears.

I will swallow pride.

I will bite my tongue.

I will offer love

without testing for deservingness.

So don’t ask me to wave a flag today

unless it is the flag of Peace.

Don’t ask me to sing an anthem

unless it is a song of Peace.

Don’t ask me to take sides

unless it is the side of Peace.

RABBI IRWIN KELLER

DO IT!

Maybe

     it won’t

work out.

Maybe

     it won’t

be what you wanted.

Or it may just be

     the adventure

of a lifetime.

Take some chances!
